Christmas 2016

Christmas 2016.

Greetings all, I do hope you managed to spend time with those you love.  It is so very special when all of those near and dear can gather under one roof.

We have had an active year traveling and I must admit there has been very little focus on my miniature world.  I had more enthusiasm for decorating my mini house than our Real life home. I was soon cured of that disinterest when we looked after three of the four grandchildren for the week prior to Christmas eve. Their enthusiasm and ideas were refreshing and I now know how to attach dinky-type toy cars and Shopkins accessories to decorate a tree.

Meanwhile in the French House Boxing Day has arrived - the good china has been hand-washed and the silver is ready to stored for another celebration.

Already the tree and wreaths seem to have lost their lustre.

and the house has become some what disarrayed in the aftermath.

A friend has arrived unexpectedly bearing a gift of summer sunshine in the form of a jar of preserved Anjou pears.

A lovely visit to reminisce over coffee and to share some Christmas baking.

The shortest day has passed and the dark brief days will begin to expand into Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

Soon the bright lights of Christmas will dim to be replaced by the optimism and hope for a healthy, happy and safe 2017 for all.

Best wishes and regards,
Janine

I certainly take my hat off to you for caring for 3 grandchildren...wow! We spend our Christmas with our four grandchildren ALL under the age of four.....BUT both sets of parents were present and I was still exhausted.

    1. Hi Linda, Thank you for your comment - so nice to see your face. Imagine four grandchildren under four!
Our youngest is now four and I can let them play non stop. They are a lot of fun.

  2. Hi Janine!
I am tickled pink that you have been able to come down from the excitement of having all of your grandchildren with you for Christmas, to find a few minutes in the after glow to post again- WHOHOOOO!!!!
Your kitchen table and chairs looks Great! That was the set that you purchased at the Seattle Show if I remember correctly, and it look FAB not only filled with assorted goodies but also with Frederica's lovely sweater draped over the back of the chair- perfectly Charming! : D

After such a long stretch, seeing your French House decorated for Christmas again, is like seeing an old friend returning after a long journey-
    hmmmm, I wonder why?????

Have a Wonderful New Year Janine, and Welcome Back to Blogland! :D

    1. Yes Elizabeth, You are right as usual. I did buy it in Seattle and then thought it too large for the space. Then for a change I slid it against the wall and it seemed an appropriate spot.
At last I have been able to display Frederica's sweater that you bought for my birthday. I think it looks perfect on the chair!
I was so tired I could not remember Frederica's name when I posted. It came to me around 0430 HRS and I came down to add her name but for some reason could not get more than Ff into the text box.
Looking forward to getting together soon. J.

    1. Thank you Genevieve,
Perhaps our paths will cross in the coming year. We will be onboard our boat in France fror May till the beginning of August and plan to attend SIMP in Paris, so there is a possibility we may meet.
I would like that very much.
      Regards Janine

    2. Janine, it would be great to meet you at last. I'm sure we will. I won't have a table at the SIMP in June, too much work to have new miniatures. But I will, of course, attend it as a visitor. So see you in June at the SIMP.

  5. How wonderful that you were able to post! I actually had checked on Christmas Eve, thinking that perhaps you may have had a bit of time to sneak off to miniland and work your magic. It is a welcome sight and yes, I agree with Elizabeth "tickled pink and welcome back to blogland" Hope to see a lot more of this beautiful house and any other creations you may work on in 2017. Happy and healthy New Year!

  6. What great Christmas decorations throughout your lovely dollhouse.
Anyone who has the stamina to take care of three children for a week has my sincerest admiration! The very idea makes me want a nap. haha

  7. Hi Janine! I never tire of seeing your beautiful French House!!! The decorations for the season look lovely and even though the luster fades fast.... the great memories linger and bring smiles for a while! You have such wonderful accessories... dishes, pets (beautiful cat!) and sweaters for the cold! Not to mention Elizabeth's fantastic coffee pot and petit fours! I hope you have had a great Holiday, and I too look forward to a "brighter" New Year!!!

    1. Dear Betsy, You cannot imagine the amount of things that Elizabeth and Fatima have given me over the years. They are both so talented and enthusiastic they are inspiring to be around.
None of my rooms have been untouched by their influence.

  8. Hi Janine. Merry Christmas and happy new year! I hope it is a great one for you. Your house is looking amazing, despite the Christmas craziness, although that beautiful bowl looks a little worse for wear. How heart-breaking!

    1. Yes Shannon the destruction of the bowl happened many years ago. My sons were playing soccer inside and the ball landed right on it. I kept the pieces and decided that I would still use it creating a scene to show that the cat had knocked it off the table.
In actuality it is a reminder that one Christmas our Siamese cat knocked a stack of Spode china plates and a platter onto the floor. Several pieces broke - luckily I valued her more than the china but it was a difficult moment.
Thank you for leaving a comment.
